FOR HUMANITARIAN and community ORGANIZATIONS

THE SKIN TO SKIN, ESSENTIAL...

Being recognized that skin to skin contact reduces the risk of infections and mortality, speeds healing and stabilizes temperature, it is valuable where new medical technologies or incubators are not or hardly accessible.

The Kangaroo Care (KMC) protects and sometimes saves the lives of these children. The skin-to-skin, often and continuously stabilizes the baby's temperature + breastfeeding protects against infections. This contact is essential in remote areas / developing countries and strengthens the connection between the baby and parent.

OTHER EXAMPLES OF USE:

At the orphanage in Africa...

Here at the Provincial Orphanage in Beira, Mozambique, also called Colegio Infantil.

Mrs Ruth Millner, a nurse, wrote to us (October 2011):

"-I am an English nurse working there as a volunteer for 2 years, and we've had a massive influx of 2kg babies!

I've seen 10 babies die in my first year and I'm pretty sure
that much of it is lack of human contact, hence the
experiment" [with your Skin-to-skin T-shirt (#VA001)].

Her suggestion: nurses and staff at the orphanage could wear on them these low-weight babies to save their life.

Mrs. Millner is seen here with a little orphan named "Sam", nestled and snug in one of our Skin-to-skin T-shirt.

Supporting Native communities in Canada ...

Often isolated, Native communities as the Crees of James Bay region in Canada, are encouraged by counselors in Maternal and Child Health to practice skin-to-skin to prevent infant health problems, promote good child development and establish a strong parenting attachment .

The Kangaroo Cami with shoulder straps (# VA005BE) provides a simple and effective skin-to-skin contact at all times.
